Experience Sled Dogs, Wildlife & Northern Sweden

We are open for welcoming volunteers to our place and the amazing area we live in. You will get your own apartment to live in and help out with about 15 alaskan huskies.

You need to be willing to learn and of course love dogs. Previous experience is not needed but this should be something you really want to do and we'll teach you. Much time is spent outdoors and you will help us with cleaning kennels, feeding, caring for the dogs and training. You should also be comfortable with sometimes being alone in the kennel. You who already have much knowledge of dogs can learn a lot about keeping sleddogs, their training and about having multiple dogs in a pack. We have 25 years experience of living and training with dogs and education in etology and animal health care. Our kennel is also approved by the Swedish authority that ensures that animal welfare is respected.

We have a company where we rent out holiday homes for tourists and offer various activities all year round. The area which we live is located in northern Sweden along the scenic Vildmarksvägen "Wilderness road". The nature is amazing with one of Europes biggest canyons, mountains, caves, waterfalls and Swedens highest located road that goes over the mountain. This part of the road is only open june-october because of the great amount of snow during the winter months. We also have one of the biggest brown bear populations in Europe and plenty of reindeer, moose, lynx and other wildlife. And northern lights of course.

We need help with the daily care of our sled dogs, including feeding, cleaning the kennel, exercising the dogs and keeping their living areas in good condition. Depending on the season, there may also be opportunities to help with dog training, preparing for the winter sledding season, and general maintenance around the kennel.

We usually ask for around 4 hours of help per day, with tasks sometimes split between morning and evening. If you stay longer than two weeks, you'll have one day off per week. There is also plenty of free time to explore the surrounding area.

If you have practical skills, such as carpentry, there may be opportunities to put them to use as well. We're happy to welcome both solo travellers and couples. .

You'll get to spend plenty of time with the dogs, learn about their care and training, and experience life at a sled dog kennel.
